Before you consult

Frequently asked questions

Pricing, timeline, process, service area, warranty — what most homeowners ask before requesting a free consultation.

01 — Working with us

Process and pricing

How does the process work?

A free initial consultation on your property is the first step. We walk the site, talk through scope and constraints, and give you a sense of what your project would involve. From there: we draw before we quote, build with our own crews, and maintain what we plant.

How does pricing work?

Every project's price depends on its scope — a planting refresh and a full outdoor kitchen are different conversations. We don't publish ranges because we'd mis-anchor your project either too low or too high. The free consultation establishes scope first; the proposal follows from there.

What's included in the free consultation?

An on-site visit, a walk-through of your property, a scope conversation, and an honest read on what your project would involve and roughly what range it sits in. No obligation, no fee, no pressure to commit on the visit.

What's the typical timeline?

[confirm with Sean — typical design phase duration; typical build phase duration; lead time for current season.]

When do you start new projects?

Our design work runs year-round; build work follows the Chicago-area construction season. Maintenance runs April through November. [confirm with Sean — current-season lead time for new project starts.]

Do you do small projects, or only large ones?

[confirm with Sean — minimum project scope. Brief positions Kings as premium-tier residential design-build but does not inventory a minimum project size.]

Will the same firm design and build my project?

Yes. We design, build, and maintain in-house — same firm from first site walk to install to follow-up. That's how we keep judgment continuous across the project, and it's how our 1-year planting warranty works in practice.

Do you collaborate with outside designers or architects?

[confirm with Sean — collaboration posture with outside designers/architects. Brief positions Kings as a full-service design-build firm but does not inventory whether Kings accepts collaborate-with-existing-designer engagements.]

02 — Service area, warranty, and after the install

Service area, warranty, and after the install

What areas do you serve?

DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties — the southwest Chicago suburbs around our Lemont studio. If you're outside this area, call us anyway; we may already work nearby.

Do you offer a warranty?

One-year planting warranty on every plant we install — we come back and replace what doesn't take. [confirm with Sean — hardscape and installation warranty terms.]

Do you do maintenance after the install?

Yes. The same firm that designs and builds your project maintains it — pruning, seasonal cleanup, planting care, and the routine work that keeps a landscape looking like itself across the years.

Are you licensed and insured?

[confirm with Sean — licensure and insurance specifics. Brief inventories ILCA membership but does not inventory contractor licensure status, insurance carrier, or coverage levels.]

Are you ILCA members?

Yes. The Illinois Landscape Contractors Association awarded our Outdoor Chef's Dream Kitchen project the Silver designation in 2022 — peer-reviewed recognition for craftsmanship and design integration.

Do you take commercial projects?

We acknowledge commercial scope on select projects. Reach out for a scope conversation.

Can I call instead of filling out a form?

Yes — (630) 323-3757. The contact form is faster for us to triage during business hours, but the phone reaches us either way. [confirm with Sean — business hours specifics.]

We answer them on a free consultation.
