Service · Landscape Maintenance
Landscape maintenance for DuPage, Cook, and Will County properties.
Seasonal maintenance care from April through November by the same crew that designs and builds across the firm — for residential properties, year over year.
Overview
The maintenance line that keeps an installed landscape installed
Maintenance is the line that turns a built landscape into a maintained one — recurring care from April through November, scheduled per-property, by the same crew across the season.
We maintain properties whether or not Kings built them. The on-site walk inventories what's planted, what's stressed, and what would benefit from design intervention versus what just needs a better maintenance schedule.
What's included
What's included
- · Mowing, edging, and turf care on a weekly cadence April through November
- · Spring cleanup and bed-prep; fall cutback and winter prep
- · Pruning, deadheading, and seasonal cutback for trees, shrubs, and perennial beds
- · Bed weeding, mulch refresh, and edging
- · Fertilization and pest / disease watch on a per-property schedule
[confirm-with-sean — weekly cadence vs property-specific mow schedule; fertilization protocol uniformity]
Our approach
How we think about maintenance
-
Same crew, same season
Same crew across the season — not a different face every visit. Crew members do change year-to-year as people move on; the firm-level continuity (records, plan, supervisor) carries forward.
-
Plant-care matched to species
Plant care matched to the species we put in (or the species you inherited) — Chicagoland zone 5b–6a appropriate, not a uniform mow-and-blow schedule.
-
Visit notes back to you
Reports back when something we see needs your decision: a tree to remove, a bed to redesign, a drainage issue surfacing under turf.
How we work
Four steps, no surprises
- Step 01
Consultation
Free, on-site. We walk the property, note the planting list, the existing care schedule (if any), and what's working or not. Quote follows the walk.
- Step 02
Plan
Per-property care schedule — mow cadence, prune timing, fertilization windows, beds-to-redo flagged separately if the existing planting needs design work.
- Step 03
Maintain
Same crew, weekly through the growing season. Visit notes back to the homeowner when something we see needs your call.
- Step 04
Year over year
Same firm next season, with last year's history in hand — so the yard improves rather than just gets cut.

Maintenance FAQ
Our last vendor cut corners and we did not notice for a season.
The most common reason that happens is invisible scope — turf gets cut, but bed care, prune cadence, and pest watch quietly drop. Your Kings maintenance plan names what is included week by week. If we miss a line item, you can see it in the visit note before the season ends.
Will the same maintenance crew show up, or a different person every visit?
Same crew across the maintenance season, scheduled property-by-property. Crew members do change year-to-year as people move on; the firm-level continuity (records, plan, supervisor) carries forward.
We did not hire Kings for the original yard. Will you take it on for maintenance?
We take on maintenance whether or not we built the yard. The on-site walk inventories what's planted, what's stressed, and what would benefit from design intervention versus what just needs a better care schedule.
What happens if a planting we paid for dies?
Plantings we install carry a 1-year warranty. If a plant we put in fails inside that window from cause within our control, we replace it.
[confirm-with-sean — "crew members do change year-to-year" attrition acknowledgment; 1-year planting warranty maintenance-context vs install-context only]
