We pick species for the specific exposure on your site. The cheapest plant is the one that lives.

Soil and drainage prep, before the plant goes in
Amended soil and drainage prep at install is the difference between roots that take and a year of replants. We do both before the plant goes in.

Species list with quantities, locations, and replacement intervals where applicable; reviewed with you before order.

Plantings FAQ
What does the 1-year planting warranty cover?
Installed material backed for one year from install date — provided the plants receive baseline irrigation and aren't damaged by storm, animal, or third-party work. See /faq for full warranty terms.
Why does soil amendment matter so much?
Most Chicagoland yards sit on heavy clay. Dropping a nursery plant into native clay traps roots in a clay-pot effect — water in, water won't drain, roots rot. Amending opens drainage and gives roots somewhere to grow.
Can you work with plants we already love?
Yes. We routinely scope around mature trees and existing beds — the design integrates what's there, then layers in species matched to the gaps in the canopy and the bed composition.
When's the right time to plant?
Spring and fall are ideal in Chicagoland — cooler soil, regular rain, lower transpiration stress. Summer plantings work with disciplined irrigation. We'll scope timing at consultation.
